The Advanced Warfighting Experiment (AWE) is an exercise to test Force XXI concepts at a brigade task force level. Force XXI integrates new systems and equipment for the Army in the 21st century. Soldiers train on various modern equipment at the National Training Center (NTC), Fort Irwin, CA. Soldiers of the 1-22 Mechanized Infantry train on Bradley Fighting Vehicles with infantry dismounts and Bradley Linebackers with a Tow missile launcher mounted on the turret. A Blackhawk helicopter with A2C25 Airborne Command and Control Vehicle sits on the ground. Soldiers run tests on an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). An Apache longbow helicopter hovers and flies away.
